Life got in the way

I haven't blogged for the last few weeks because life got in the way.  Each of my two kids has alternated between viruses, respiratory infections, asthma attacks.  One kid got sick one week and the other one got sick the next week, and so it went for most of the month of October.  I have gotten in some tatting, just not a lot of time for blogging.

I thoroughly enjoyed this Fall's TIAS with Sherry.  Here is my little Piccadilly Express:

Motif # 17
I'll finish off the rest of the cars after I get some of my WIPs done.

I have also done some Halloween tatting, though not as much as I wanted to.  Here's a really cute bat I found on Marty's blog here.

Motif # 18
I thought these would be cute to make a Halloween mobile out of, but I ran out of time.  Halloween is almost here.

And I made progress on the Anne Orr doily.  This last round was a bit tedious with all its small rings with just two ds between picots, but the effect is beautiful.  It looks like a string of pearls.

It is puckering a bit around the outside, but I'm hoping the next round will flatten it back out.

Making progress

I'm making progress on the Anne Orr doily.  Here's how it looks after 4 rounds.

I love the delicate look of it.  I still have  3 more rounds to go to make the small, 7 inch doily.  Right now it only measures about 3 inches across.  When you're using size 70 thread, your work doesn't grow very fast.

My TIAS is still a mystery.  This is my progress through day 7.
One person guessed that it looks like the head of a sheep.  I can see that.  But to me it looks like "Panic Pete," the squeeze toy whose eyes and ears pop out when you squeeze his body.

Can you see the resemblance?  I know it's a stretch, but that's all I see at this point in the project.  It sure is fun tatting something that you don't what it is.
